Present Setup

Background

My 1989 mk3 Toyota Supra turbo was purchased in May 1999 with 119000 km on odometer. I was the second owner in Ukraine, originally car was imported from Germany. I can't say exterior and interior were in mint condition, low odometer numbers were most likely the result of  pre-sale "adjustment". I was very much impressed by Supra performance, maybe because my previous car was 1989 2.3ltr Mustang (don't laugh, I was always and still is big fan of American muscle cars, but in the mid-80's I was only able to afford that 90hp "monster")                                   Looking back I consider myself lucky, I had the choice between N/A and Turbo and main reason  I bought Turbo because it was black and was on 17" OZ wheels. I knew nothing about turbo cars and their potential, but not for long. When my ship was in States (I work as marine engineer for living) I bought few issues of Sport Compact Car magazine and was amazed by possibility to double or triple turbo motor horsepower. So, when I was back home for vacation the search began. First I found SOGI (Supra Owners Group International) and subscribed to e-mail list. Nowadays it is nothing special to have 350-400whp mk3 Supra, back then not so many guys were pushing this kind of power. I was hooked and decided I need around 350whp and supporting suspension mods to be happy. Now I realize how wrong I was. Like my friend says the only cure for speed and power addiction is the lack of funds  ;-)  It is never enough...  The same summer 2000 I placed my first order with Suprasport, it was K&N FIPK, Suspension Technique lowering springs and NGK plug wires. I lowered my car, removed cats, installed K&N, added few washers under wastegate actuator bracket and wow - that thing moved really fast!. I felt like the king of the street. Some time later I of course realized that stock mk3 despite decent power of 235 factory horses was too slow off the line due to it's mammoth weight of 3600lb (1620kg).
I became customer of suprasport.com for many years. Former owner Jeff Montigny (aka Mr.Boost) is great person, one of the founders of SOGI, he contributed a lot to Supra community. Now he is retired from Supras thing, has wife and two kids, got decent job and drives 911 Porsche. I still see him sometimes posting on Supraforums.
OK, back to my Supra. I don't want to be too long here, all aspects will be covered on other pages of this site. I am sure many people will find some mods and especially interior condition too "ghetto style". There are few reasons for this. First - due to the nature of my work I spend only 3-5 months of a year at home. I always on vacation in summer and don't have luxury of long winter months when people tend to tidy out their cars. Second reason - if I have certain amount of money to spend on my car I better spend them on performance mods rather then to improve appearance. And reason no.3 is almost all appearance mods lead to weight increase. If you continue reading on this site you will see that my car is on hacksaw diet.
Hope you will find this site informative.
